Editing part:

At first, I had the idea of doing a full photoshoot to capture the perfect images for my book cover. However, the weather here wasn’t on my side. Every single day was sunny, no rain, no fog, and when the weather was finally foggy the people that I needed for the photoshoot couldn’t come, so I had to rethink my approach.

Firstly, I looked through my phone and found this beautiful photo of a cathedral I took in France, so I decided to use it for my main idea of my first book cover. After editing the photo over 10 times, and not getting any ideas on how to edit it, I finally got it. I edited some blood that drips on the cathedral and used a dark filter over the whole photo, and it was done.

At that time, the second book cover wasn't even in my mind, but when I had the idea for my second book cover too, I had to do something to create it.

Since the weather was beautiful and foggy, I decided to go outside anyways. I went for a walk and took some photos that unexpectedly fit the theme I was aiming for. It captured the sense of unease but also a weird feeling of comfort, and that’s when I knew the photo would work perfectly as my book cover.

To get the effect I wanted even more, I layered another photo taken when I was in vacation it Italy over the main photo. This made the scene feel even more unsettling. After that, I applied a filter over the edited images to give everything a darker atmosphere. Just like that, my book cover was complete, and it perfectly reflected that dark, horror feeling like you are trapped I wanted to bring.

Choosing the title:

For my first book cover:

Thinking of a title for this book cover was not easy work.

I had to find something that would reflect the mood of this book cover.

When I look at this photo, my mind immediately things of something tragic and poetic. Something that combines the darkness with the beauty.

And the title "Nightfall's Stained Prayer" met all the requirements.

For the second book cover:

When it came to the title, I wanted something simple yet powerful, something that gives off a sense of isolation, of fear, of darkness. The title "No Escape" felt perfect. It instantly gave me the feeling of being helpless, trapped, watched all the time.

I think that this title is pretty catchy because if you are a curious person, like me, you could wonder “No escape from what? From who?”

I also chose a "bloody" font for my titles, which I thinks matches the vibe I wanted to go for perfectly.

The photos I took and the photos I used:

The genre of the book influenced my choices in everything. If I wouldn't have gone for something dark, a bit horror, I wouldn't have used dark filters, or the font I used. I would have also used different photos, and not these ones.
