Sometimes, stories change. Not because we don't like them anymore, but because we realize that we want to choose a different path for our story.

My original script for my two minutes opening began in the shadow of the forest, under the light of the fire. The setting had an unique haunting beauty that just drew me in. But as I thought about my idea longer, I came with a new, slightly different idea, and also realized about the actual dangers of the forest. So, I decided to make a change.

I went with a story that still has that dark, eerie feeling, but it takes place somewhere that's safer for me and the actors and that it's easier to bring to life. I still love the main idea, but this new version feels smarter, and more possible.

Even though this story will be different, it still fits the world I've always wanted to create. A world full of fantasy, mystery, darkness. As someone who is passionate of reading and who has a lot of ideas, I had to be sure that I'm in love with my idea before I bring it to life, even if it meant changing it. I didn't want to start creating my story until I felt connected to my story.

This version allows me to bring my ideas to life, while also working safely.

The New Location:

Every story begins somewhere. For my new story, the place is no longer the forest, but somewhere that is holds its own strange, dark beauty: an old attic.

Sounds simple.. almost weird, right? To most people, an attic is just an old, dusty room that is not important. But to me, it holds a different kind of beauty. Forgotten and quiet.

It might not hold the same exact dark beauty the forest holds, but it still holds the same sense of unknown.

This is where my new story begins. In a place there is hidden from the rest of the world. Quiet and dark.

The Risks

No matter how strange is the beauty of an old attic, I cannot ignore the risks that come with filming in such a place.

There could be forgotten objects that could cause harm and the floors could be weak and unsafe to walk on. The setting has its on strange beauty, but we need to be careful while filming.

And, of course, because I want to use candles, I need to be even more careful. Their beautiful, soft flicker adds something magical to the atmosphere to my film opening. But, fire can be dangerous, no matter of the beauty it holds. Near old, dry things, or even near the costumes, a single small flame can turn extremely dangerous.

So, even if the atmosphere of my film opening is extremely important, the safety while filming must come first.

I came up with another idea, but I will leave this post here because it's still something that represents me. Check my next post to see my new idea.
